Nigeria Tracking Terror Financiers, Says CDS

Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, says security agencies are tracking terrorism financiers and ongoing prosecutions are underway.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels TV, Musa said the Attorney-General, DSS, NIA and other agencies are collaborating, but weak judicial processes often free high-value suspects. He urged lawmakers to establish special terrorism courts and strengthen laws he described as “too soft” for the threats Nigeria faces.

The Defence Chief linked the influx of arms to Libya’s collapse and Sudan’s crisis, warning that porous borders fuel insecurity. He also alleged that some politicians may be backing violence ahead of elections, saying agencies are investigating.

Musa called on Nigerians to stop shielding insurgents with logistics and safe havens, stressing that the war “cannot be won by the military alone.”

Despite challenges, he cited recent arrests of top Asaro commanders as proof of improved intelligence coordination.
