Nigeria’s former presidential candidate Peter Obi has honoured the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a man whose legacy enriched both the nation’s economy and its people.
In a heartfelt message of condolence delivered to the Dantata family on Sunday in Abuja, Obi reflected on the remarkable life of the 94-year-old statesman and entrepreneur.
“His humility, compassion and simplicity, despite his considerable wealth, are virtues worth celebrating,” Obi said. “He not only advanced Nigeria’s economy but also touched lives through his commercial acumen and generosity.”
Obi extended prayers for Dantata, asking for Allah’s mercy and strength for his loved ones to bear the loss. He also expressed hope that Dantata’s enduring spirit of service, enterprise and humility would inspire generations to come.
Dantata, who died on Saturday morning, was widely recognised for his business leadership and philanthropic efforts. As a driving force behind the Kano State Foundation, he championed educational projects and provided crucial support to small business owners.
At the helm of a group of companies overseeing diverse interests, including real estate, Dantata became an emblem of entrepreneurial success and social responsibility in Nigeria.
