Authorities in Adamawa State have intensified the battle against drug trafficking and abuse, seizing nearly 600 kilogrammes of illicit substances in just two months, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
State Commander Aliyu Abubakar said at a briefing in Yola that 107 people had been arrested between July and August, with 15 convicted and jailed. Dozens of other cases remain in court, he added.
Beyond enforcement, Abubakar highlighted rehabilitation efforts, revealing that 12 former drug users had successfully completed treatment and rejoined their communities. The agency also reached more than 10,700 students and teachers through awareness campaigns under its War Against Drug Abuse initiative.
He stressed that transparency and accountability were central to NDLEA operations, noting that drug tests had been conducted on 73 people and over ₦340,000 in revenue generated and remitted.
The zonal commander, Ishaku Kwajafa, praised staff for the results achieved, while promoted officers and award recipients were reminded that “more is expected of them.”
The ceremony concluded with the decoration of five senior officers and the presentation of 12 commendation letters signed by NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa.
