In a significant move, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has sanctioned a new, passenger-oriented solution crafted by a consortium to alleviate travel issues, particularly those linked to operational and weather-related disruptions.
The “Propel Reprotection System” is an innovative technological platform designed to assist Nigerian airlines in re-protecting passengers during flight disruptions. This system enables effortless transfers to available flights with partner airlines, ensuring no loss of revenue while enhancing passenger satisfaction.
NCAA Director General, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, underscored the importance of this collaboration among three leading industry firms to improve air travel efficiency. The consortium comprises Aviation Assist Hub, responsible for operational logistics; Aviation Technology Solutions (Avitech), the technological backbone of the Propel platform; and Leadway Assurance, providing financial support.
Mr. Micheal Achimugu, representing the NCAA, stressed the need for improved services in the aviation sector, stating that passengers are entitled to experiences that align with international standards.
The NCAA is in discussions with numerous domestic carriers about integrating this solution, which is expected to reduce flight delays and bolster passenger confidence in Nigerian airlines.
The pilot phase is set to launch in August, marking a transformative step for Nigeria’s aviation industry.
