Nasarawa Police Nab Suspects Over Abduction, Murder Of Young Woman

The Police Command in Nasarawa State says it has arrested suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction and killing of Miss Favour Francis, a resident of Ombi Anzaku community in Lafia Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lafia, describing the arrests as part of the command’s intensified efforts to rid the state of criminal gangs.

According to him, the incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 3, at about 10:00 p.m., but was not immediately reported to the police. On Sunday, Oct. 5, at about 8:30 p.m., operatives of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Ambana village arrested two suspects linked to the attack and handed them over to the police.

“Following directives from Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro-Mohammed, the command’s tactical unit swung into action, which led to the arrest of another suspect in Angwan Nunku, Lafia,” Nansel said.

The suspect later took investigators to where the gang hid a locally made rifle, five live cartridges, and the knife allegedly used in stabbing the victim. Nansel added that two of the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation.

He confirmed that the victim was rescued alive but sadly died while receiving treatment at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia.

The PPRO commended the synergy between the VGN and police operatives and urged residents to promptly report crimes and provide information that could help bring offenders to justice.
