Nasarawa Begins Mararaba Flyover, Underpass Projects

The Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to commence construction of flyovers and underpasses along the Mararaba–Karu corridor in Karu Local Government Area.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba, disclosed this on Tuesday in Lafia.

According to Ahemba, the projects, aimed at tackling persistent traffic gridlock on the busy route linking the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, will be completed before the end of 2027.

He said funds required for the projects have already been earmarked, while the Nasarawa Urban Development Board is conducting feasibility studies to identify the most suitable locations.

Ahemba added that approval for the projects was recently secured from the Federal Government through the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.

“The initiative is part of government’s effort to provide lasting solutions to traffic challenges, particularly along the Mararaba–Karu axis,” Ahemba stated.

He said the projects would not only ease vehicular movement for residents, motorists and travellers but also boost economic activities and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area.

The governor further noted that the planned infrastructure would complement the Lafia flyover and underpass inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the ongoing Akwanga and Keffi flyover projects.

He revealed that the Akwanga flyover would be completed before the end of the year, while work on the Keffi project remains in progress.
