Minister Praises Progress On Zaria–Gusau–Sokoto Road Project

President Bola Tinubu is strongly committed to delivering durable and high-quality road infrastructure for Nigerians, the Minister of State for Works, Mr Bello Goronyo, has said.

Speaking during an inspection of the Zaria–Gusau–Sokoto dual carriageway in Gusau on Sunday, Mr Goronyo said the Federal Government remained resolute in its efforts to improve road networks nationwide.

The inspection was carried out alongside senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Works, including directors and controllers overseeing projects in Zamfara State.

Mr Goronyo explained that the road project, which spans Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto states, is expected to strengthen economic activities, facilitate trade and enhance security across the North-West.

He said the project aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places infrastructure development at the heart of national growth and prosperity.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of work delivered so far, describing the progress as a significant achievement under the current administration. He noted that Section Two of the project, covering Sheme in Katsina State to Gusau in Zamfara State, had reached 50 per cent completion.

He urged contractors to maintain the current pace to ensure the project is completed on schedule.

Providing further details, the Federal Controller of Works in Zamfara State, Mr Kasimu Yusuf, said the 372-kilometre road had been divided into four sections, running from Zaria in Kaduna State to Sokoto. He added that the ministry conducts regular inspections to ensure contractors adhere strictly to agreed standards and specifications.
