Military Pension: AVM Adamu Assumes Command As MPB Chairman

AVM Abubakar Adamu, has assumed office as the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB).

This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Sqn. Ldr. Ahmed Mohammed, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Mohammed said the handover marked a new chapter in the board’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of retired military personnel and ensuring greater efficiency in pension management.

He said the ceremony was symbolic of continuity, professionalism, and renewed vigour in service delivery to military retirees.

According to him, AVM Adamu takes the helm with a wealth of experience, bringing to the Board decades of dedicated service in finance, administration, and defence policy.

He said the new MPB boss held several critical command, instructional, and staff appointments across the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and wider defence architecture.

“His previous roles include Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Principal Staff Officer Finance at the Air Warfare Centre, and Commander, 081 Pay and Accounting Group.

“He also served as Director of Finance at NAF Headquarters, Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL), and most recently, as Group Managing Director of the NAFIL Group of Companies.

“He was also a Directing Staff at the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru,” he said.

Mohammed said the new chairman is a distinguished financial expert and seasoned administrator with fellowship and membership of the relevant professional bodies.

According to him, AVM Adamu is widely expected to lead the Military Pensions Board into a new era of accountability, transparency, and service excellence.

“His assumption of office has been met with optimism across the military community, as stakeholders look forward to reforms that will prioritise timely pension payments, efficient record management, and improved engagement with military veterans.

“As he takes on this crucial national assignment, AVM Adamu reaffirmed his resolve to serve with dedication and uphold the trust reposed in him by the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Federal Government,” he added. (NAN)
