Mele Kyari’s Removal As NNPCL GMD Long Overdue – Yabagi Sani

The National Chairman of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Yabagi Sani, on Sunday said that the removal of a former Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kayri, by President Bola Tinubu was long overdue.

Sani, a former staff member of the defunct Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

He said that when Tinubu, shortly after assumption of office, removed the former Governor of Central Bank (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, some Nigerians were clapping for him, because Emefiele left his core duties and was moving with government officials.

He said that many had believed that he would equally remove Kyari, as NNPCL was also one of the country’s major problems.

He, however, commended the president for the removal of fuel subsidy and the floatation of the naira, the two cankerworm which he said had eaten deep into the country’s fabric.

If NNPCL must work, according to him, the shareholders should be allowed to decide who manages it and that the company should be quoted at Nigerian Stock Exchange.(NAN)
