Mark Mourns Ex-Plateau Military Administrator, Sen Mana

Nigeria’s political and military establishment has been thrown into mourning following the death of Mohammed Mana, a retired soldier, former Plateau State Military Administrator, and one-time Deputy Minority Whip of the Senate.

Senator David Mark, now chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), described Mana as “a patriotic Nigerian and a jolly good fellow” who gave his life in service to the country.

In a statement released on Sunday by his media adviser, Paul Mumeh, Mark reflected warmly on their decades-long friendship. He said Mana not only defended Nigeria’s territorial integrity as a soldier but also played an active role in guiding the nation’s return to civilian rule. The two later served together in the Senate from 2007 to 2011.

“Mana stood for justice, equity and fairness, and he never compromised his integrity,” Mark said. “He was a team player, full of humour, and deeply committed to democratic values.”

The former senator died in Abuja on Friday after a short illness, aged 75. His passing has been described as a major loss to Adamawa State and to Nigeria more broadly.
