Liverpool Plot Swap Deal For Nigeria’s Osimhen In Summer Overhaul

Liverpool FC are reportedly in discussions over an audacious swap deal that would see them land Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa heading in the opposite direction.

The Reds, who recently clinched their 20th English top-flight title, are planning a significant reshuffle of their forward line under newly appointed head coach Arne Slot. Osimhen, one of the most prolific strikers in Europe last season, is seen as a transformative signing as Liverpool look to build on their domestic success.

Osimhen, 26, spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he registered an astonishing 37 goals, reigniting his reputation after an injury-plagued spell in Italy. The Nigerian international remains under contract with Napoli but could be tempted by a move to Anfield.

Liverpool’s plan includes using Darwin Núñez, whose form has faltered since joining from Benfica, as part of the deal. Despite high expectations, the Uruguayan managed just seven goals in all competitions last term.

Federico Chiesa, who joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer, has similarly struggled to make an impact due to persistent fitness issues, appearing only once as a starter in the league. Both players could now be used to facilitate a high-profile trade for Osimhen.

Reports suggest Liverpool are hoping to take advantage of Napoli and AC Milan’s interest in Núñez to push through the deal.

In addition to Osimhen, Liverpool’s recruitment team is pursuing Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez as they look to bolster the squad ahead of a title defence and European campaigns.
