Liverpool are advancing in negotiations to secure Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to renowned football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
In a statement posted on Tuesday via X, Romano revealed that the Premier League side have made tangible progress in their efforts to sign the Dutch defender, initiating talks with Leverkusen concerning the framework of his €35 million release clause.
“Liverpool are progressing in discussions to sign Jeremie Frimpong following contacts reported last week,” Romano stated. “It’s understood that #LFC have reached out to Bayer Leverkusen to discuss the structure of the €35m release clause.”
Romano also indicated that conversations are ongoing with the player’s representatives, with Frimpong expressing a keen interest in a transfer to Anfield.
“Discussions are also taking place on the player’s side, with Frimpong enthusiastic about joining Liverpool,” he added.
Frimpong was instrumental in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning season and has caught the eye of numerous elite European clubs.
