Lebanon On Brink Of Having Two Time Zones Due To Dispute Over Daylight Saving

Lebanon, a country already struggling with a severe economic crisis, is now facing the possibility of having two different timezones. The government has postponed the winter clock changes and will introduce Daylight Saving from midnight on April 20 instead of March 25. Although no official reason has been given for the move, some local media sources suggest that it was done to coincide with Ramadan.

The decision has caused widespread outrage, with two TV channels, MTV Lebanon and LBCI Lebanon, refusing to cooperate with the adjustment. They have announced that they will go ahead with switching to Daylight Saving Time on Saturday, as originally scheduled.

This dispute has also had consequences for the aviation industry, as Middle East Airlines has changed the timings of all its flights for one month, advancing the timings by one hour. The move is likely to cause confusion for travelers and disrupt schedules.

Lebanon’s ongoing economic crisis has created social and political unrest in the country, and the dispute over Daylight Saving is just the latest example of this. While the reasons behind the decision to postpone the clock changes are still unclear, the move has clearly created tension and division within the country.
