Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a dedicated patriot who strove to move the nation forward.
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Kehinde Akinyemi, on Sunday in Abeokuta, Obasanjo said he received the news of Buhari’s death “with a heavy heart.”
Reflecting on their shared history, Obasanjo described Buhari as “a colleague, a comrade, a calm patriot and a soldier,” who served the nation dutifully across different roles — as military leader, civilian president and elder statesman.
Obasanjo noted that, in moments like this, the country should look to the combined wisdom and experience of its past leaders to help chart a better path.
“Buhari will be sorely missed,” Obasanjo added, praying for his soul to rest in perfect peace.
