Isaac Kekemeke has been re-elected as South-West Zonal Chairman of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) after a consensus vote at the party’s regional congress in Lagos.
The congress, attended by 1,398 accredited delegates from across the six South-West states, also saw the emergence of seven other executive members without opposition.
The exercise was overseen by the Zonal Congress Committee Chairman, Jide Jimoh, who described the event as orderly and significant for the party’s cohesion.
Among those elected were Alfred Aluko (Secretary), Ismail Majaro (Legal Adviser), Lateef Ibirogba (Organising Secretary), Ayobami Afolabi (Publicity Secretary), Oyetunde Adesanya (Woman Leader), Daramola Adesuyi (Youth Leader), and Dayo Ishola (Disability Representative).
Addressing the gathering, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended delegates for their discipline and loyalty, describing the congress as a benchmark for other regions.
He said the peaceful conduct of the election reflected adherence to party rules and Nigeria’s electoral laws, while reaffirming support for President Bola Tinubu.
Dr Kekemeke, speaking on behalf of the newly elected executives, pledged to strengthen the party’s position in the region and mobilise support ahead of future elections.
He emphasised the importance of unity and expressed confidence that the APC would secure victories in forthcoming governorship polls and the 2027 general election.
Senior party figures, including governors, former office holders and lawmakers from across the South-West, were in attendance at the congress.
