Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday launched the disbursement of N104 million to 5,200 disadvantaged women across the state, providing each with N50,000 to support income-generating activities.
The ceremony, held at Government House, Kano, is part of Yusuf’s broader programme to reduce poverty, enhance self-reliance, and improve the socio-economic status of women in the state.
Governor Yusuf emphasised the role of women in driving economic development and family stability, stressing that the administration remains committed to empowering women through ongoing skills development and financial support initiatives. He encouraged beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely to create sustainable businesses that would contribute to community growth.
Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano chapter, commended the governor for his steadfast support of women empowerment, describing the scheme as evidence of his commitment to grassroots development.
The recipients of the funds expressed appreciation, pledging to use the resources effectively to enhance their livelihoods and promote local economic advancement.
