Kano PDP Primary Election: Court Declares Mohammed Abacha As Party’s Candidat

A Federal High Court Sitting in Kano on Thursday, 22nd December, affirmed Mohammad Sani Abacha as the duly elected governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kano State.
It will be recalled that sometimes in July, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Abacha, through his lawyer, Bar Reuben O. Atabo, SAN, commenced an action at the Federal High Court of Nigeria, holding at Kano, raising certain questions for determination, following the failure of INEC to publish his name as the winner of the PDP primary election for the 2023 Kano State Gubernatorial race, and going ahead to publish the name of Alhaji Sadik Wada Aminu Wali instead.
The Presiding judge, Justice A.M Liman in a judgement on Thursday evening nullified the Primary election that produced Sadik Amunu Wali as Kano PDP governorship Candidate and ordered INEC to expunge his name for Muhammad Sani Abacha.
The judgement which was virtually delivered was earlier scheduled for 12.00 noon today but was later shifted
The plaintiff in the suit is Mohammed Sani Abacha while INEC is the first defendant, Sadiq Aminu Wali is the second defendant, PDP is third while Wada Sagagi is the fourth defendant.
Commenting on the judgement, one of the Counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. R.O. Atabo, SAN, described the judgement as apt and victory for democracy.
