Kano Govt Approves ₦19bn For Education, Roads, Health And Power Projects

The Kano State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf, has approved over ₦19 billion for the execution of development projects across several sectors of the state.

Briefing newsmen after the council meeting on Sunday in Kano, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Strategy, Ibrahim Waiya, said the projects cut across education, health, water resources, infrastructure, and renewable energy.

According to him, about ₦5 billion was approved for key interventions in the education sector, including the settlement of outstanding financial obligations and the renovation of schools across the state.

The council also approved ₦274 million for the renovation and upgrade of health facilities and ₦3.4 billion for projects under the Ministry of Water Resources.

Waiya further disclosed that approximately ₦10 billion had been approved for road construction, flood control works, and other infrastructure development projects.

He added that the council also considered policy decisions aimed at expanding access to affordable housing, enhancing energy supply, and boosting state investment in the power sector.

These include the construction of low-cost housing estates, acquisition of majority shares in KEDCO, and adoption of the Kano State Electricity Policy.

Waiya said the council also noted with pride the recent recognition of Governor Yusuf’s leadership through various awards for good governance and service to humanity.
