Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has cautioned public officials against any form of misconduct, following the resignation of the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Namadi’s resignation may be linked to his alleged involvement in the bail process of a suspected drug offender.
Addressing the 30th Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday in Kano, Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s firm stance on discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption and drug-related offences.
He expressed concern over the growing threat of drug abuse and trafficking, especially among the youth, describing it as a serious societal challenge.
“Our administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse, trafficking, and social vices. These are destroying the lives of our young people, and we will not fold our arms,” he said.
The governor urged members of the cabinet to uphold the highest standards of integrity and public service, warning that any act of misconduct would be met with the full weight of the law.
“Any official who cannot align with our values of accountability and service has the option to resign. We will not compromise on our commitment to restore sanity and integrity in governance,” he added.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to justice, transparency, and the overall well-being of the people of Kano State, pledging to continue steering the state towards responsible and people-focused governance.
