The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally confirmed the victories of two lawmakers in Kano State, presenting them with Certificates of Return after the recent by-elections.
Resident Electoral Commissioner Abdu Zango presented the certificates at INEC’s Kano office on Friday to Garba Ya’u Gwarmai of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), elected for Ghari/Tsanyawa Constituency, and Ali Hassan Shanono of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who will represent Shanono/Bagwai Constituency.
The two lawmakers, from rival political parties, hailed INEC for conducting what they described as credible polls and commended voters for their support. Both pledged to focus their legislative work on strengthening healthcare, education, security, and the provision of potable water—key issues facing their constituencies.
The by-elections reflect the continued contest between the APC and NNPP, two dominant forces in Kano State politics.
