The Judicial Service Commission of Kaduna State has approved key appointments and administrative reforms aimed at bolstering judicial effectiveness across the state’s courts.
On Sunday, the Commission confirmed the appointments of Mr Benjamin Hassan as Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice and Mr Muhammad Ali as Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
Announcing the decisions, the Commission’s Secretary, Mr Murtala Halidu, said the appointments followed a rigorous selection process and were approved under the leadership of the Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Aliyu.
“These appointments reflect a deliberate consideration of merit, professionalism, and the capacity to drive institutional progress,” Halidu stated.
In addition to the two top judicial roles, new Deputy Chief Registrars for both courts were named, along with a Director of Administration and additional personnel for the Sharia Court of Appeal.
The Commission has also introduced a written examination and interview system for future judicial appointments, a move seen as part of wider efforts to enhance transparency and competence within the judiciary.
Other reforms include the promotion of 154 staff members, cadre changes for 20 employees, two conversions, and one advancement. Staff at Grade Level 07 and above will now face written exams as part of the promotion process.
The Commission extended its congratulations to the new appointees, encouraging them to uphold the values of justice, efficiency, and accountability in their respective roles.
