Kaduna Govt. Confirms Minor CNG Explosion, Rules Out Bomb Blast

The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that the incident at Mando Motor Park in the early hours of April 5 involved a minor explosion from a CNG-powered bus and not a bomb blast.

In a statement on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said preliminary findings indicated that the vehicle, operated by Silver Luxury Travel, experienced a technical fault linked to overfilling.

“Preliminary findings confirm that the incident involved a CNG-powered bus with a minor explosion traced to a technical fault linked to overfilling.

There was no bomb explosion, and no casualties or property loss were recorded.”

He added that the situation was swiftly contained and normal activities had since resumed at the park.

The commissioner said the development followed an earlier statement by the Kaduna Police Command on the incident.

According to him, Gov. Uba Sani has ordered a comprehensive multi-agency investigation to determine both the immediate and underlying causes of the incident.

“The probe will involve relevant security agencies, technical regulators, and safety authorities to ensure full accountability and strengthen operational standards for CNG usage across the state,” Maiyaki said.

He said the governor commended the Police Command, particularly its Bomb Disposal Unit, for its prompt and professional response in securing the area and ensuring public safety.

Reassuring residents, Maiyaki said the incident was purely technical and not a security threat.

“Residents are urged to remain calm, rely on verified information, and go about their lawful activities.

“The Kaduna State Government remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property and will continue to keep the public informed as investigations progress,” he added.
