The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a beacon of democratic renewal, describing him as a visionary leader with an unwavering commitment to national transformation.
In a statement issued on Thursday to mark Democracy Day, Matawalle commended the President’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
He described Tinubu’s decades-long pro-democracy struggle and eventual election as the fifth president of the Fourth Republic as evidence of divine favour and political resilience.
“Your struggle for the redemocratisation of Nigeria and your eventual emergence as President are clear indicators of divine unction upon your enduring vision,” Matawalle said.
He added that history would remember Tinubu for his bold decisions and high standards, which are steering Nigeria back onto the path of continental greatness.
As Nigeria marks the 26th year of uninterrupted democracy, Matawalle highlighted President Tinubu’s achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the area of security.
He applauded the administration’s focus on addressing insecurity through the Renewed Hope Legacy Project, which he said is bridging economic corridors across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
“In the security sector, you have fast-tracked democratic dividends through equitable, record-breaking accomplishments—where people can now travel by road from Abuja to Kaduna, Zamfara, and Katsina without the fear of abduction, unlike in previous administrations,” he said.
“Your commitment to making Nigeria free from insecurity is laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth and national unity.”
The Minister further praised the growing synergy between Nigeria’s executive, legislative, and judicial arms, attributing this to President Tinubu’s leadership style.
According to Matawalle, the administration has ushered in a new era of regenerative democracy, where institutions work in harmony to build a more inclusive nation, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or class.
