Nigeria’s leading Islamic organisation has condemned an attack on worshippers in Katsina State, branding it a “barbaric assault” on innocent lives.
The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), under the leadership of Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, expressed shock at the incident, which took place in Mantau village of Malumfashi Local Government Area during dawn prayers on Tuesday.
In a statement released on Sunday, Secretary-General Professor Khalid Aliyu said the killings highlight Nigeria’s deepening security crisis. He urged authorities to act decisively to restore peace, stressing that “human life is sacred” under both Islamic teachings and the Nigerian Constitution.
Aliyu further appealed for synergy among government, security agencies and local communities, calling on citizens to provide intelligence to help forestall future attacks.
JNI offered prayers for the victims’ forgiveness and comfort for their families, and asked for divine help in frustrating the designs of armed groups threatening Nigeria’s peace.
