Internal Crisis: PDP Factions To Hold Emergency NEC And BoT Meetings

Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faces heightened internal tensions as the Abdulrahman-led faction announced emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meetings for Tuesday.

Suspended National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu issued the notice on Monday in Abuja, confirming that the BoT meeting aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike will start at 11 a.m., with the NEC session scheduled for 2 p.m. at the party’s national secretariat in Wadata Plaza.

The meetings follow the Damagum-led NEC’s elective national convention on Saturday, which resulted in the suspension of Anyanwu, Wike, and other party members.

The PDP secretariat has reportedly remained locked amid the factional conflict, reflecting the growing rift within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the ongoing struggle for control of the party’s leadership structures.
