INEC To Resume Voter Registration In Akwa Ibom

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom has confirmed that its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal will soon reopen ahead of the country’s next general elections in 2027.

Mr Obo Effanga, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, shared the update on Wednesday during a press conference in Uyo, urging citizens to seize the opportunity to register.

Effanga disclosed that the CVR exercise would include both online and physical registration options, with on-site registration scheduled to begin at local government council offices on 25 August.

He advised those who have already initiated the online process to finalise their registration at INEC’s offices to complete biometric data capture.

“INEC now offers an online portal where people can conveniently start the registration process,” Effanga said. “The same platform also handles voter transfers, corrections of errors in names or addresses, and related requests.”

He cautioned voters against attempting to register multiple times, explaining that those who have misplaced their voter cards should instead apply for a replacement rather than register afresh.
