INEC Records 66,951 Pre-registrations In Oyo State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 66,951 residents of Oyo State completed pre-registration in the first week of the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR).

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Adeniran Tella, announced the figure in Ibadan on Tuesday at the inauguration of a sensitisation drive for the exercise. He welcomed the strong response as proof of citizens’ readiness to engage in elections.

According to him, the CVR process—reopened on 18 August—began with online pre-registration before physical registration started on 25 August. He explained that eligible citizens who turned 18 or were registering for the first time could do so online and then validate their information at INEC offices across the state.

Tella also reminded voters that card replacements, transfers, and updates could be carried out directly on the INEC portal, reducing pressure on physical registration centres. He said the awareness campaign was designed to simplify procedures, explain requirements, and encourage more residents to secure their Permanent Voter Cards.
