India Reports 12,591 New Cases

India reported over 12,000 COVID-19 infections on Thursday, an increase of nearly 2,000 cases compared to yesterday. As many as 12,591 cases were registered, the daily COVID-19 report shared by the government showed. The country’s active caseload currently stands at 65,286 – 0.14% percent of the total cases.
India reported over 10,000 cases for the first time this week on Wednesday. This is a significant spike compared to Wednesday’s data which showed a total of 10,542 cases, as per the union health ministry’s website.
Previously, cases marginally dipped earlier this week with 7,633 new infections reported on Tuesday and 9,111 on Monday. The COVID case tally was 4.48 crore (44,857,992).
The active cases in the national capital, Delhi, were reported 6,046, with 332 new cases added in the past 24 hours.
The government data said the discharged cases stood at 44,261,476. The data also reported that six deaths happened in Delhi, four each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, one each in Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab.

Two deaths were reported each in Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. In Kerala, two deaths were reported in the past 24 hours and 11 reconciled deaths were reported. Maharashtra reports 1,113 new Covid cases, 3 deaths in 24 hours

In the north-eastern states where the infection is relatively contained, no new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim while the ministry said Assam was yet to communicate the data.
