Hundreds Dump Labour Party For ADC As Leaders Criticise APC Government

Hundreds of members of the Labour Party in Niger State, alongside supporters of Peter Obi’s presidential ambition and members of the Community Structure Foundation for Good Governance (CSF), have joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group was received in Minna by the ADC’s National Woman Leader, Hon. Naomi Lasara Abel, who warned against what she described as efforts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to dominate Nigeria’s political space.

She called on ADC members to remain committed and organised, stating that the party was prepared to challenge the APC at the polls.

Hon. Abel alleged that politicians defecting to the APC were seeking protection from accountability, describing the ruling party as a refuge for those with “sins against innocent citizens”.

She said assessments of the APC-led administration showed it had failed to deliver good governance, adding that economic hardship had left Nigerians eager for political change ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The defection of governors to the APC does not guarantee victory. Nigerians know the truth and are ready for change,” she said.

The defection was led by Joshua Bawa, the Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate in Niger State, who formally presented the new members to the ADC.

ADC State Chairman, Alhaji Musa Hassan, said the party was rapidly expanding its influence in the state and remained confident of success.

Mr Bawa added that the party would launch an aggressive grassroots mobilisation campaign to persuade voters to reject the APC and embrace alternative leadership.
