Hon Okon Mourns With APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Over Mother’s Passing

The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ime Okon, has expressed profound grief over the passing of the mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. The late Mama Lydia Yilwatda died at the age of 83.

Hon. Okon, in his condolence message, described the death of Mama Lydia as “the departure of a rare matriarch whose life embodied the finest virtues of faith, resilience, discipline, and service to humanity.” He noted that her transition is not only a personal loss to the Yilwatda family but a painful blow to the wider community and the nation at large.

“Mama Lydia Yilwatda was more than a mother to her children; she was a fountain of wisdom, a pillar of strength, and a guiding light to all who encountered her. Her character, her faith, and her selfless devotion remain a testimony to the power of a life well lived,” Hon. Okon said.

He further remarked that her passing at this critical time in the nation’s history carries a deeper significance. “Nigeria is in dire need of exemplary figures of moral courage and enduring faith. To lose Mama Lydia now is to lose a rare voice of prayer, guidance, and compassion. Her influence is deeply etched in the life and leadership of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, whose vision and values are a direct reflection of her legacy.”

Hon. Okon commiserated with the Yilwatda family and the people of Plateau State, praying that the Almighty God grants them strength and comfort in this season of grief. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama Lydia’s soul, affirming that her memory will continue to inspire generations to come.
