Governor Fubara Mourns Former President Buhari: ‘A Dedicated Leader Committed To Nigeria’s Progress’

Suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has joined Nigerians in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at the age of 82.

In a condolence statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara described Buhari’s death as a great loss for the nation and extended condolences to Buhari’s family, President Bola Tinubu, and all Nigerians.

Fubara praised Buhari for his disciplined leadership and steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s unity and development.

“President Buhari’s time in office was marked by a strong anti-corruption drive, efforts to improve national security, and significant infrastructure initiatives that shaped modern Nigeria,” Fubara said.

He reflected on Buhari’s broader legacy, highlighting his service first as Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.

Fubara said the late leader would be remembered for his sincerity of purpose and patriotism.

He concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul and for God’s strength and comfort for his family and the nation at large during this difficult time.
