The Gombe State Police Command has launched an investigation following the death of a 15-year-old girl whose body was found in Kwami community, police said on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Aisha, was reported missing after being sent to buy soybeans on Monday evening. Her body was later discovered in a hole in a bush near Wakili and Tuguji villages in Kwami Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi said the girl’s father reported her disappearance to the police around midday on Tuesday.

“According to the report, the girl was sent on an errand at about 5:40 pm on Monday and did not return home,” Abdullahi said.

He added that police detectives who visited the scene observed visible signs of violence and mutilation on the body. Photographs were taken before the remains were evacuated to hospital for further medical examination.
