Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has called on Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Daniel made the call on Sunday during the Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Otunba Gbenga Daniel (BATOGD) Mid-Term Community Assessment and Review Tour held at Ijebu Imushin, in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The senator cited remarkable progress in key sectors — especially solid minerals — as evidence of President Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic transformation.
He commended the President’s bold reforms, which he said had repositioned the mining industry and increased national revenue.
According to Daniel, revenue from solid minerals rose from ₦6 billion to ₦38 billion within a year — a record-breaking growth driven by transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
“The mining sector under President Tinubu has received greater attention, and its revenue has grown from ₦6 billion to ₦38 billion in just one year,” Daniel said.
“This was made possible by the President’s bold declaration that the era of exporting raw minerals is over. Mining licences will now go only to investors who commit to local processing and value addition.
It’s a means of creating jobs and ensuring that the prosperity derived from mining stays within Nigeria.”
Daniel urged residents of Ogun East to sustain their support for the ruling administration, noting that continuity in leadership at both federal and legislative levels was vital to achieving long-held regional aspirations such as the creation of an Ijebu/Remo State and the development of the Ijebu Seaport project.
“By God’s grace, President Tinubu will not disappoint us. What we’re hearing is that one new state will emerge from each geopolitical zone. Continuity of the President and your representatives will make this dream a reality,” he said.
The lawmaker explained that the BATOGD tour was not a political rally but a grassroots engagement platform designed to assess progress, gather feedback, and communicate government policies directly to the people.
He listed several community-driven projects across Ogun East among his achievements, including an eye-care programme that had benefited more than 4,000 residents.
Daniel reaffirmed his commitment to continued collaboration with the Federal Government and key stakeholders to transform the region’s abundant natural resources into sustainable prosperity for future generations.
