Fierce Competition As Almost 2 Million Apply For Paramilitary Roles

The race for jobs in Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies has drawn nearly 1.91 million applicants, despite only 30,000 vacancies being available, according to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

Figures released on the board’s official recruitment website reveal huge regional interest, with Kogi State topping the list at 116,243 applicants, followed closely by Kaduna (114,599) and Benue (110,644). At the other end of the scale, Bayelsa recorded 11,680 applicants, with Lagos at 14,221.

The staggering number highlights both the high demand for government jobs and the limited opportunities in Nigeria’s formal employment sector.

The CDCFIB said shortlisted candidates would be notified by email and text message in the coming weeks, and advised applicants to watch for updates closely.
