FG To Revive Kaduna Textile Industry — SGF Akume

The Federal Government says it plans to revive the moribund Kaduna Textile Industry as part of broader efforts to boost the nation’s economy and drive industrialisation.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, disclosed this on Tuesday in Kaduna during a two-day interactive session on government-citizens engagement, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.

The session, themed “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizens Engagement for National Unity”, brought together high-level government officials, including all presidential appointees from Northern Nigeria.

According to Akume, President Bola Tinubu remains committed to developing all regions of the country and ensuring inclusive national progress.

“President Tinubu is focused on development across eight key areas to ensure Nigeria experiences holistic growth in all spheres,” Akume said.
“His administration plans to industrialise the country through diversification, and reviving the Kaduna Textile and other historic industrial centres in the North is part of that agenda.”

He described the textile industry’s revival as critical to job creation, economic expansion, and restoring Nigeria’s manufacturing legacy.

“We intend to revisit those good old days of Kaduna Textile to further solidify our economy through industrialisation. These and many more initiatives are already being pursued by the Tinubu administration, which has achieved remarkable progress in just over two years,” he added.
