FG Publishes 2025 Entrance Exam Results For Federal Secondary Schools

The Nigerian government has officially released the results of the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), determining eligibility for admission into the country’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) for Junior Secondary School (JSS1).

Also unveiled were the outcomes of the separate entrance examination for the Federal Government Academy (FGA), Suleja — a specialised institution for gifted pupils.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, described the announcement as a milestone in the government’s efforts to strengthen basic education.

The exam, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on 14 June, recorded 64,578 registered candidates. Of this figure, 61,290 sat the exam while 3,288 were absent.

Top performers reached a score of 202 out of a possible 210, while 27 candidates received the lowest possible score of one. Notably, 52 cases of examination malpractice were recorded — two in Lagos State and 50 in Rivers State.

On the FGA Suleja assessment, 3,421 pupils registered, with 3,141 attending and 280 absent. The highest score recorded was 194, with the lowest again being one.

Professor Ahmad reaffirmed the current admission model: 60 per cent of slots will go to top-scoring pupils, 30 per cent allocated to ensure equal representation across Nigeria’s states, and 10 per cent reserved for special circumstances.

She called on education authorities to expedite the admission process and adhere strictly to the established criteria.

“Our Unity Colleges remain highly sought-after by Nigerian families, and we remain dedicated to enhancing the quality of teaching, infrastructure, and student welfare,” she said.

The announcement was accompanied by a formal handover of the results by NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi.
