Femi Gbajabiamila Brings Free Healthcare To Remote Lagos Island

The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday rolled out a free medical outreach at Agboyi Ori Omi, a riverine community in Lagos State’s Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area.

The initiative, organised with Lagos State Health District 2 and the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps, delivered a wide range of services including dental care, eye checks with free spectacles, blood pressure and sugar tests, TB and HIV screening, treatment of minor ailments, and free medication.

Represented at the event by Lagos State lawmaker Mr Desmond Elliot, Gbajabiamila stressed that healthcare remained a central priority for the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He called on residents to seize the opportunity for diagnosis and on-the-spot treatment, adding that the outreach would also cover Ketu and Ikorodu communities later in the week.

Officials hailed the intervention as a lifeline for the hard-to-reach island, where over 41,000 people live with limited access to quality health facilities.

“This is a big deal for us because our people truly need these services,” said Dr Dayo Lajide, Permanent Secretary of Lagos Health District 2.

Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, Mrs Adetola Abubakar, commended Gbajabiamila’s gesture as timely and impactful, while applauding the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps for its philosophy of providing medical care beyond borders.

“This unique outreach is touching lives where it matters most,” she said.
