FCTA Promotes 49 Deputy Directors To Directors

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has promoted 49 Deputy Directors to the rank of Director across departments, moving from Grade Level 16 to 17.

Mr Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Olayinka said the development followed the minister’s approval of the release of results of the first-ever computer-based promotion examination conducted for eligible officers.

He explained that the exercise was organised to address outstanding promotion arrears between 2023 and 2025 for workers on Grade Level 16.

He quoted the FCT Civil Service Commission Chairman, Emeka Eze, as saying the promoted officers would fill 49 of the 63 existing vacancies across departments.

Of the 49 promoted, the Education Officer cadre recorded the highest number with 20, followed by the Accountant cadre, which secured nine positions.

Other cadres, including Civil Engineering, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medical Officers, each had one vacancy and one eligible officer.

The Education Officer cadre had 820 eligible candidates for 20 vacancies, while Administration had 12 eligible candidates for 10 vacancies.

Olayinka recalled that to ensure transparency and fairness, Wike directed the Civil Service Commission to adopt a technology-driven approach for the promotion exercise.

He said the minister consequently approved the commission’s adoption of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) model for conducting the promotion examinations.

To ensure efficiency and timely release of results, the commission’s board of examiners fixed a 60 per cent pass mark for the CBT-based promotion. (NAN)
