Authorities in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory have begun registering prospective pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, with a required minimum deposit of ₦8.5 million, the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB) announced on Monday.
Board Director Alhaji Kadiri Edah said that payments must be made strictly via bank draft from recognised commercial banks, payable to the Board, before or on 2 December. Each applicant must submit the draft together with their international passport at designated offices in the FCT’s six area councils.
He noted that the registration process would be handled on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure fairness and transparency.
Edah further urged those who had previously paid but missed earlier pilgrimages to reconfirm their interest so their deposits could be applied towards the 2026 exercise.
Reaffirming the Board’s commitment to improving services, he cautioned intending pilgrims to avoid fraudulent intermediaries and transact only with the Board directly.
