FCT Civil Defence Wives Association Distributes Relief Materials To 450 Beneficiaries

The Civil Defence Officers’ Wives Association (CDOWA), FCT Chapter, has donated relief materials to 450 members and wives of fallen heroes.

CDOWA in collaboration with Food Bank Naija distributed food stuff and other support supplies to the beneficiaries on Wednesday at the NSCDC FCT Command, Headquarters.

Mrs Bolanle Odumosu, President of the association, said that the food relief intervention programme, themed, “Women and Economic Survival: Creative Paths to Family Sustainability” was timely and deeply relevant.

According to her, It speaks directly to the strength, ingenuity, and resourcefulness that define us as women.

”As wives, mothers, and partners to our officers, we understand the importance of standing together especially in challenging times hence the need for this programme.”

She added that the programme reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the well-being of its members and personnel of the command.

”In addition to the distribution of essential food items, we are also here to empower ourselves with knowledge that can help us thrive as wives and mothers in the home front.

”I urge us all to embrace not just the physical nourishment, but the mental and emotional empowerment this programme offers.

”Remember as women we are the backbone of our families and communities and so we must think creatively and explore new opportunities,” she said.

Odumosu further advised members to forge new paths, build stronger families, and uplift one another through encouragement, understanding, and love.

She appreciated the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu and the management of FoodBank Naija for partnering with the association in making the food distribution a reality.

She also advocated for more collaborations that would further empower women nationally and not just at the command level.

Chairman of FoodBank Naija, Mr Kingsley Nnadi, in his remarks, said that the collaboration was powered by kindness, unity and the unwavering belief that no Nigerian should ever go to bed hungry.

He promised a monthly subscription and supply of food items to widows of CDOWA FCT chapter.

”Let us open this event with energy, with vision and with a shared commitment to fight hunger; not tomorrow, not in the future but here and now,” he said.

Nnaji noted that in a country as blessed as Nigeria, no child should cry themselves to sleep due to hunger.

”Yet millions do, as hunger now robs children of their abilities to learn, weakens mothers and holds fathers back from achieving their dreams.

”Hunger does not discriminate; but the good news is that together we can break this cycle which is the essence of collaborations such as this,” he added

He further said that the food support was not only intended to feed bodies but to feed dreams, empower communities as well as an investment to Nigeria’s future.

He urged well-meaning Nigerians to promote the initiative of showing love to one another through food sharing and not just words.
