Former EFCC Chairperson Farida Waziri has paid heartfelt tribute to late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, praising his integrity and revealing how his decisions shaped her career.
In a statement released from Abuja on Wednesday, Waziri reflected on Buhari’s passing as a moment that “touched the hearts of millions” and served as a reminder that people are ultimately judged by the values they uphold.
“In President Buhari, Nigeria saw a man whose life was defined by discipline, incorruptibility, and an unwavering pursuit of truth,” she said. “From his early military rule to his time as an elected President, his commitment to fighting corruption never dimmed.”
Waziri emphasised that Buhari’s lifestyle reflected his values, noting that “he lived modestly, acted justly, and held himself to a higher standard.” She also acknowledged the personal impact of Buhari’s leadership, recalling how he ensured her rightful retirement rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police was recognised.
“In a system where justice can be elusive, President Buhari stood firm for what was right,” Waziri added. “His principled actions touched not only public life but also my own journey.”
She concluded by calling on history to remember Buhari “as a soldier, a statesman, and above all, a man of integrity,” expressing hope that his soul would rest in peace and his legacy continue to inspire.
