The European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS has joined global voices mourning the passing of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died at the age of 82.
In a message posted on Instagram (@euinnigeria) on Tuesday, the EU expressed its deepest condolences to both the Nigerian government and its citizens.
The Delegation highlighted Buhari’s steadfast support for multilateral cooperation and a rules-based international system, describing these principles as central to the EU’s own mission.
“Throughout his service, President Buhari showed commitment to multilateralism and international rule-based order, values shared with the EU,” the statement noted.
The EU Delegation concluded by standing in solidarity with Nigerians as they reflect on the late president’s legacy.
