Enugu State Records N230 Billion FAAC Inflow In 2025, Governor Reports

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has revealed that the state received N230 billion from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) in 2025, exceeding the N150 billion projected in the 2025 Enugu State budget.

Speaking during the presentation of the 2026 budget to the State Assembly on Tuesday in Enugu, Governor Mbah said the 2025 budget of N971 billion, approved by the State Assembly, experienced unprecedented revenue inflows.

“FAAC inflows not only met expectations but exceeded them by more than half. We projected N150 billion but received N230 billion — over 50 per cent above projection,” he stated.

Mbah credited the performance to President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of foreign exchange rates, and other fiscal measures that strengthened key macroeconomic indicators. He noted declining inflation, easing interest rates, a stabilised exchange rate, and foreign reserves recently exceeding N46 billion.

Highlighting the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR), Mbah said Enugu State expects to exceed N400 billion by the end of 2025, representing the highest IGR in the state’s history — a 221 per cent increase over 2024.

On overall revenue performance, Mbah reported that recurrent revenue from FAAC and IGR reached N676 billion, achieving 97.7 per cent of projections. Capital receipts amounted to N150 billion, or 53.7 per cent of the budgeted N278 billion, resulting in a total revenue inflow of N826 billion, over 85 per cent of the planned budget.

Regarding expenditure, the governor said N138 billion was spent on salaries, pensions, and essential government services, accounting for 92 per cent of planned recurrent spending. Additionally, N667 billion was invested in capital projects, including roads, schools, hospitals, water systems, and terminal infrastructure.

“We have delivered about 83 per cent of the overall budget. Remaining projects are ongoing, with the largest peaking in November and December,” Mbah added.

Governor Mbah also presented an appropriation bill of N1.62 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year.
