DSS Dismisses 115 Officers Amid Nationwide Security Shake-Up

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel from its various commands across Nigeria in what officials describe as part of ongoing reforms within the nation’s intelligence agency.

A top security source confirmed the development to journalists on Tuesday night, disclosing that the move followed an internal review aimed at strengthening discipline and professionalism across the Service.

According to the source, the DSS management said the names of the dismissed officers had been published to alert the public and prevent fraudulent activities by individuals posing as serving operatives.

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services, the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service.”

The DSS noted that the full list of the affected individuals has been uploaded to its website — https://dss.gov.ng/media/more/4
— and urged citizens to verify information or lodge complaints through its contact number 09088373515 or via email at dsspr@dss.gov.ng
.

Although the Service did not provide details of the offences that led to the dismissals, a senior security source hinted that the decision may be linked to the broader restructuring within Nigeria’s security architecture following recent reports of an attempted coup.
