Diplomatic Outposts Temporarily Closed After Iranian Strike Near Tel Aviv

The United States temporarily shut down its diplomatic offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Monday following a nearby missile strike from Iran that caused limited damage to the U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv.

According to U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, the embassy branch sustained “minor damage” due to the shockwaves from missiles that hit close to the building, though no American personnel were harmed.

“Some minor damage from concussions of Iranian missile hits near Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv, but no injuries to U.S. personnel,” Huckabee posted on social media platform X.

Iran’s missile strike came in retaliation for a wave of Israeli airstrikes on Friday, which reportedly targeted high-value Iranian locations including military leadership compounds, energy sites, and sensitive nuclear infrastructure.

The overnight bombardment triggered widespread alarm in Tel Aviv, with explosions echoing through the city centre and emergency sirens mobilising first responders.

Authorities have not provided detailed information on casualties or the full extent of the damage from either side, but international observers have warned of an intensifying regional conflict if de-escalation efforts fail.

The U.S. State Department has not announced when embassy operations will resume.
