A resident of Dan Magori in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State has condemned Governor Dauda Lawal over his failure to tackle worsening insecurity in the region.
Ismail Hussaini, speaking on behalf of affected residents, accused the governor of abandoning his campaign promises to address the state’s security challenges.
He recalled that Governor Lawal pledged to resolve the crisis within two weeks, or at most a month, during his election campaign.
However, over a year into his administration, Hussaini claimed that the security situation in Dan Magori has only deteriorated.
According to him, the town has become a sanctuary for terrorists, with residents facing constant kidnappings and violent attacks.
He said “In a recent incident, 23 residents were reportedly abducted, with kidnappers now demanding ₦25 million for their release.
“The victims have remained in captivity for more than 70 days. Videos showing their distress have circulated widely in the community”.
Hussaini criticised the governor for ignoring repeated appeals for intervention. He insisted that the state government has shown little concern for the suffering of the people.
“The people of Dan Magori are suffering in silence,” he said. “Governor Lawal has done nothing to assist us. We need urgent help.”
He appealed to the federal government to step in and rescue the community from escalating violence.
