The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has processed 78,451 new applications in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Plateau State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mallam Mohammed Sadiq, gave the update during a stakeholder meeting in Jos on Wednesday. The CVR began online on 18 August, with in-person registration commencing on 25 August.
Providing a breakdown of the figures, Sadiq said 44,142 applications were classified as incident cases, while 25,290 applicants had completed their physical capture. He added that 7,019 applicants were still awaiting biometric capture.
“The first phase of the CVR will close on 10 December,” he said. “The preliminary register will be displayed for claims and objections from 15 to 21 December, with complaints handled on 21 December. The second phase will resume on 5 January 2026.”
The REC also raised concerns over the large number of unclaimed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state. According to him, 101,200 PVCs remain uncollected.
He urged residents to pick up their cards and appealed to those who have not completed their registration to do so promptly before the current phase ends.
