C’Rivers: Police Warn Recruitment Applicants Against Bribery

Police in Cross Rivers have warned applicants in the ongoing constable recruitment screening exercise against all forms of financial inducements.

The Recruitment Team Lead, DCP Victor Bekep, issued the warning at the official commencement of the exercise on Tuesday in Calabar.

He emphasised that the recruitment process is strictly merit-based.

Bekep urged applicants to conduct themselves in an orderly and disciplined manner throughout the exercise, stressing that only candidates who meet the stipulated requirements would proceed to the next stage.

He cautioned against paying anyone who claims to influence the recruitment process.

“The exercise is free, transparent, and based solely on qualification and merit”, he said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Rashid Afegbua, also advised applicants to remain vigilant and report individuals or groups demanding money or making fraudulent promises related to the exercise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recruitment exercise aims to enlist 50,000 personnel, including General Duty and Specialist Police Constables, into the force.
