Crisis in the Labour Party: Peter Obi Blames Tinubu’s Government

Peter Obi, the former Anambra governor, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of exacerbating the issues plaguing the Labour Party. In a recent interview with Arise TV, Obi cited the inflammatory remarks made by Labour Party chairman Julius Abure as indicative of the internal conflicts.

When asked why he has struggled to mend the rift within the party, Obi pointed to the influence of Tinubu’s government as a key factor. “This is what Nigeria has become—a land dominated by propaganda and falsehoods. The present government is responsible for our challenges,” he asserted.

When pressed for evidence to support his claims against the Tinubu administration, Obi referenced Abure’s disparaging comment about Governor Alex Otti, calling him a “dwarf.” “I shouldn’t have to elaborate. When a party chairman makes such remarks, it reflects poorly on us all,” he noted.

Obi added, “We are trapped in a web of lies that fosters division even among family members. I have built successful businesses both locally and internationally, and I left them prospering. My reputation is well-earned.”

With tensions escalating over the leadership of the Labour Party, Abure and Otti have recently found themselves in a heated verbal dispute.
