Court Strikes Out FCCPC Case Against Qatar Airways Executives

The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a criminal case brought by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) against Qatar Airways and four of its senior executives.

Justice James Omotosho made the ruling on Tuesday after FCCPC admitted it had not been able to serve all the defendants with court papers.

The defendants included Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, Temi Birdzell; Account Manager, Stella Ihediwa; Country Manager, Kennedy Chirchir; and Sales Manager, Eva Ojeje.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/200/2025, accused the airline and its officers of failing to comply with a lawful summons issued in September 2024 and of withholding requested documents, in violation of the FCCPC Act, 2018.

The charges also included alleged contraventions of consumer rights under Section 124(1) of the Act.

The matter was initially scheduled for arraignment in June before being adjourned to October. FCCPC may re-file once proper service of process is completed.
